Diphtheria

Diphtheria is an acute infectious disease caused by the bacterium Corynebacterium diphtheriae. It affects the respiratory tract, causing symptoms such as sore throat, fever, and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, it can lead to death. Diphtheria can be prevented by vaccination. Vaccination provides a high level of protection against infection and is recommended for both children and adults. Vaccination may also reduce the severity of symptoms and help prevent the spread of the disease. Vaccination is one of the most effective public health interventions available, and is important in preventing the spread of this serious and potentially deadly disease.
