Host-viral Infections
A host-viral infection occurs when a virus infects a host cell, often to the detriment of the host. These viruses can cause a wide range of diseases, from mild illnesses like the common cold to severe, chronic diseases like hepatitis C. By understanding how viruses interact with host cells, researchers can develop better treatments and vaccines to help manage and prevent these infections. Additionally, host-viral infections can provide insight into the biology of the viruses and of their hosts, and this knowledge can be used to study developing treatments for other diseases.
