Metabolism

Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that occur in living organisms in order to sustain life. It is essential for all forms of life, from bacteria and fungi to animals, plants, and humans. Metabolism allows organisms to grow, reproduce, and respond to their environment. It breaks down food for energy and stores and transports nutrients, turning them into usable forms of energy. Metabolism is also responsible for the removal of waste products. Without it, an organism would be unable to survive.
