Parvoviruses
Parvoviruses are a type of small, single-stranded DNA viruses. They are one of the most common and widespread viruses on Earth, infecting a wide variety of animals, including humans. They are associated with a range of illnesses, particularly gastrointestinal and respiratory infections in humans, and other illnesses in animals such as canine parvovirus. Parvoviruses have been identified as potential gene therapy vectors, and research is ongoing to develop new medical treatments based on them. They are also of interest to scientists studying human and animal evolution, as they can provide insights into how certain diseases have evolved over time.
