Sapovirus

Sapovirus is a type of virus belonging to the Caliciviridae family and is a member of the genus Sapovirus. It is an enteric virus and is one of the main causes of gastroenteritis and diarrhea in humans. Sapovirus is highly contagious and can spread easily through contact with contaminated surfaces and food as well as by person to person contact. Symptoms of sapovirus infection can include watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, and fever. No specific treatment is available for sapovirus, but proper hydration and supportive care are recommended for the most severe cases. Sapovirus is an important cause of viral gastroenteritis in humans and its global importance is increasingly being recognized. Treatment of sapovirus infection continues to be an important area of research, as there is no specific antiviral therapy available.
