Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis

Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE) is an infectious viral disease that primarily affects horses, but can also spread to humans. It is primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Symptoms in humans include fever, headache, muscle pain, and rash, and in more severe cases, seizures and coma may occur. VEE has no specific treatment and prevention is difficult, but there are vaccines available for horses. The virus can spread to humans through contact with infected horses, exposure to infected mosquitoes, or consumption of contaminated food or water. It is important to recognize VEE as a potential health threat, as it can cause serious illness and even death in humans.
