Virology Emerging Viral Diseases
Virology is the study of viruses, small infectious particles that can cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to more serious diseases like Ebola. Emerging viral diseases are viruses that are newly found or diseases that have recently become more frequent or severe. These diseases can be caused by new viruses or by strains of existing viruses. An increased awareness of emerging viral diseases is important for the public health community to identify, monitor, and respond to potential outbreaks in a timely manner. Effective prevention and control strategies can help reduce the spread of these viruses and the associated illnesses. Understanding the behavior of emerging viruses can help scientists develop better diagnostic tests and treatments, as well as vaccines to protect against future infections.
