Overview

Dental treatments are the clinical interventions used to prevent, restore, replace, and rehabilitate the teeth and supporting oral structures, ranging from preventive and restorative care to surgical, endodontic, periodontal, orthodontic, and prosthetic procedures. They aim to relieve pain, arrest disease, restore function and esthetics, and replace missing teeth so that mastication, speech, and oral health are maintained. A major domain is the management of tooth loss through oral implants, in which a titanium fixture is surgically placed into the alveolar bone to provide a stable foundation, after osseointegration, for crowns, bridges, or overdentures. Treatment planning integrates diagnosis and imaging, assessment of bone quality and anatomy, selection of biomaterials, and increasingly digital and minimally invasive techniques to optimize predictability and tissue response. Research relevant to this area examines bone-augmentation and sinus-lift procedures, graft materials and titanium-mesh reconstruction of atrophic ridges, implant designs for compromised bone, the socket-shield approach to immediate placement, laser-assisted periodontal therapy, orthodontic and surgical correction of malocclusion, and the histological behaviour of implants in function. Such work links surgical and prosthetic technique to the biological requirements of healing and integration. The journal publishes peer-reviewed research in dentistry and oral implantology, covering the restorative, surgical, and rehabilitative treatment of the teeth and oral cavity.
