Dermatophytosis
Dermatophytosis is a type of fungal infection which affects the skin, hair, and nails. It is caused by dermatophytes, which are a group of fungi that feed on keratin, a major component of the skin, hair and nails. Symptoms of dermatophytosis include red, scaly patches on the skin which are accompanied by itching and/or burning sensations. It can be spread through direct contact with an infected person or through contact with surfaces that have been in contact with the infected person. Treatment of the infection usually consists of antifungal creams or pills that aim to stop the growth of the fungus. It is important to treat the infection early and diligently to help control the spread of infection and alleviate symptoms. Dermatophytosis is a common skin infection and can be managed with proper treatment.
