Desquamation
Desquamation is the shedding of the outer layer of skin cells. It is a natural process that occurs in healthy individuals, although it can be exaggerated or prolonged in certain medical conditions. Desquamation is significant because it helps to keep the skin clean, moisturized, and protected from infection. It also helps to maintain the integrity of the skin and assists in wound healing. Desquamation is beneficial to overall skin health, as it promotes the regeneration of new skin cells.
