Hirsutism
Hirsutism is a medical condition where women grow excessive amounts of dark, coarse hair in body areas where it is typically seen in men such as the face, chest, and back. It can be caused by an excess of hormones such as androgens or by an underlying medical condition. Treatment of hirsutism is typically centered around the removal of the unwanted hair and the underlying cause of the condition. Treatments range from hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, tweezing and laser hair removal, to medications and lifestyle changes such as birth control pills, spironolactone, finasteride, and weight loss. Hirsutism can have a significant psychological impact on women, leading to self-consciousness and anxiety, so proper management and treatment is essential for overall well-being.
