Immunodermatology

Immunodermatology is a branch of dermatology which studies the relationship between the skin and the immune system. It is an interdisciplinary field, combining immunology, molecular biology and dermatology for the diagnosis and management of skin diseases. Immunodermatology focuses on the contribution of the immune system to the pathogenesis and treatment of various skin disorders, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, autoimmune blistering disorders and cutaneous lymphomas. It also examines the use of immunosuppressive therapies for the treatment of skin diseases, and the influence of systemic conditions on skin diseases. In addition, it may involve identifying and developing new treatments, such as vaccines and antibodies, for skin diseases. Immunodermatology is an important field of research which continues to provide significant advances in the diagnosis, treatment and management of skin disorders.

A dermatologist treats diseases of skin which can also be cosmetic problems of the skin, scalp, hair, and nails. It is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects.
