Monkeypox

Monkeypox is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV). It is a zoonotic virus, meaning it is transmitted from animals to humans, most commonly through contact with infected rodents or primates. In humans, the virus causes a mild to severe rash, fever, lymphadenopathy, and in more severe cases, can cause death. It is similar to smallpox, however, is generally considered to be less severe. There is no specific treatment or vaccine currently available, but outbreaks can be prevented through public health measures such as rodent control, increased public awareness, and vaccination campaigns.
