Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, also known as striae, are locations on the skin where the collagen and elastin fibers have broken. This usually occurs after a rapid period of growth or weight gain, resulting in an overstretching of the skin. Stretch marks are most commonly found on the abdomen, hips, buttocks, and thighs, and can range in color from pink, purple, or red, to silver or white. Stretch marks can have a significant impact on self-esteem and body image. Treatment options for stretch marks include topical creams, laser therapy, microneedling, and surgery. With proper treatment, many people can improve the appearance and texture of their skin, reducing the visibility of stretch marks.
