Tinea Versicolor

Tinea Versicolor is a skin condition caused by a type of yeast that naturally occurs on the skin. It is most common among adolescents and young adults, and is characterized by light-brown or tan patches of discoloration on the skin. These patches can be seen on the arms, chest, back, shoulders, and neck. Tinea Versicolor is not dangerous and is quite common, however, it can lead to social embarrassment and psychological distress. Treatment of Tinea Versicolor includes antifungal creams, lotions, and shampoos. These are effective in most cases, and can restore the skin's color and texture.
