Electrophoresis
Electrophoresis is a laboratory technique used to separate molecules by size or charge. It is based on the principle that molecules when placed in a solution and subjected to an electrical field will move through the solution at different rates. This technique is used in applied areas such as forensic DNA testing, protein analysis, and virus separation. It is also useful for diagnosing genetic disorders and studying gene expression. Furthermore, the use of electrophoretic techniques in the analysis of complex biological mixtures has enabled a greater understanding of fundamental biological processes.
