Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry
Ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS) is a powerful analytical technique for characterizing molecules in gas-phase. IM-MS combines the advantages of both ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) and mass spectrometry (MS) to determine the size, shape and charge of molecules, as well as their charge-to-mass ratio. IM-MS has a wide range of applications in analytical chemistry, life sciences, chemical and industrial processes, environmental monitoring and forensic science, among others. IM-MS excels in the resolution of complex mixtures and the detection of low molecular weight compounds. It also has potential to be used in the development of novel pharmaceuticals. In addition, IM-MS can provide information on protein structure, which is invaluable in understanding the assembly of macromolecular structures and the function of proteins.
