Matrix-assisted Laser Desorption

/Ionization Matrix-assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization (MALDI) is an analytical technique used to identify and quantify small molecules, proteins, peptides, and polymers. It works by using a laser to shoot a matrix-coated sample and ionize it, allowing for the molecules to be identified due to the unique pattern of their ionized signals. MALDI is widely used in a variety of industries, from diagnostic and clinical laboratories to pharmaceutical and food industries. It has proven to be invaluable for analyzing and quantifying large biomolecules, as well as for providing valuable data on the structure and conformation of molecules. MALDI is also commonly used to identify biomarkers for various diseases, to measure concentrations of small molecules, and to characterize proteins and peptides. As a result, MALDI has become an essential tool for scientists and is an incredibly powerful analytical technique.
