Tandem Mass Spectrometry (MS/MS)
Tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) is a powerful analytical technique used to identify and quantify molecules present in complex mixtures. It combines two mass spectrometers in series in order to obtain high-resolution fragmentation pattern of the sample molecules. MS/MS is useful for a wide range of applications such as for proteomics studies, forensic science, food safety, clinical diagnostics, environmental monitoring and drug discovery. Its advantages include the ability to identify and quantify even trace amounts of molecules, and its high sensitivity, which makes it difficult to detect false positive or false negative results.
