Amebiasis
Amebiasis is a parasitic infection caused by the amoeba Entamoeba histolytica. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. In some cases, it can also cause liver abscesses and meningoencephalitis. It is most commonly found in developing countries, but can affect people from all over the world. It is spread through contaminated food and water, contact with infected individuals, or improper hygiene. It is treatable with antiparasitic medications, but without treatment can become life threatening. Regular hand washing and proper food preparation can help prevent its spread. Improved sanitation and access to clean water can help reduce the incidence of amebiasis in affected areas.
