Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a form of cancer that originates in the liver. It is most commonly caused by long-term damage to the liver due to chronic infections like hepatitis B or C, or heavy alcohol use. It is a highly aggressive cancer and is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Diagnosis of HCC can be achieved through various methods such as imaging scans, blood tests, and biopsies. Treatment of HCC can be done through various methods, including surgical resection, radiation, chemotherapy and targeted therapy. The prognosis for HCC is usually poor, but advances in the detection and treatment of the disease have improved survival rates for many patients.
