Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that combines biology, computer science and mathematics. It is used to develop tools and techniques for analyzing, interpreting and managing biological data. This data can be used to understand the structures and functions of proteins, genes, cells and tissues. Bioinformatics plays an important role in precision medicine, medical diagnosis, drug discovery and development, and gene therapy. It allows us to examine the data held in DNA, RNA and proteins to improve our understanding of biological processes. This can lead to the identification of new drugs, diagnostics and treatments.
