Centromeres

Centromeres are specialized portions of chromosomes that are essential for the proper segregation of genetic material during cell division. They are recognized by their histone modifications, distinct DNA sequences, and the presence of the protein CENP-A. Without centromeres, genetic information would be lost during the cell division process, resulting in dysfunctional cells or cell death. Centromeres are important for understanding the structure and function of chromosomes, the transmission of genetic information, and for analyzing chromosomal abnormalities associated with genetic disorders.

DNA, is like a blueprint of biological guidelines that a living organism must follow to exist and remain functional. RNA, helps carry out this blueprint's guidelines. RNA is more versatile than DNA, capable of performing numerous, diverse tasks in an organism, however DNA is more stable and holds more complex information for longer periods of time.
