Dna Structure
DNA structure is the physical form of the genetic material present in all living organisms. It consists of two long strands of a molecule called deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), wrapped around each other to form a double helix. The DNA double helix is made up of four nitrogenous bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), thymine (T), and cytosine (C). These bases pair together in specific ways so that the genetic information stored in the DNA can be accurately and efficiently read by the cell. DNA structure is the key to the transfer and expression of genetic information from one generation to the next and is essential for the continued survival of all living organisms. Its importance in the development of molecular biology and biotechnology has made DNA structure one of the most frequently studied and discussed topics in biology.
