Genetic Algorithms
Genetic algorithms are a type of computer algorithm which simulate the process of natural selection through the use of a Darwinian approach. This approach is used to generate possible solutions to problems and optimize solutions. With genetic algorithms, the computer is able to explore a search space--a set of possible solutions--in order to determine the most likely solution. By applying evolutionary principles, such as mutation and selection, the computer can identify solutions that have the highest chance of being a successful result. Genetic algorithms have a wide range of uses, including data analysis, optimization, and machine learning. They are particularly useful in fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics.
