Molecular Evolution
Molecular Evolution is the study of how genetic material changes over time. It is a field of science used to understand the history of life on earth and how modern species are related to one another. It uses data from the analysis of DNA and proteins to study the genetic changes that occur in different organisms. These changes can include changes in the sequence of bases (the "letters" of the genetic code), changes in the rate of mutation, changes in gene regulation and gene expression, and changes to the structure of proteins. By understanding molecular evolution, we can gain insight into how life adapts to new environments and how diseases evolve to become more resistant to treatments. Molecular Evolution is an important tool for understanding how species adapt and the impact this has on our world.
