Nucleic Acids
Nucleic Acids are the fundamental molecules of life, responsible for the storage and transmission of genetic information. They are found in all organisms as well as some viruses, and are composed of nitrogen-containing bases, sugar molecules and phosphate groups. Their forms of DNA and RNA are essential for the replication, transcription and translation of genetic information between cells, and play a major role in protein synthesis. In biotechnology, Nucleic Acids are used to help synthesize specific gene sequences and to diagnose genetic diseases. In medical research, they are used to identify organisms and help to study diseases and treatments.
