Probe Hybridization
Probe hybridization is a technique used in molecular biology to identify and detect the presence of a specific nucleic acid sequence in a sample. The technique uses a single-stranded synthetic oligonucleotide probe, which is complementary to the nucleic acid sequence of interest. The probe is labeled with a fluorescent marker, allowing visualization of the sample in question under a microscope. Probe hybridization is a critical tool for the study of gene expression, gene mapping, and allelic variation in genetic analysis applications. Furthermore, the sensitivity and specificity of this technique make it a valuable tool for DNA diagnostics.
