Rna Stem-loop Structure
RNA stem-loop structure is a three-dimensional arrangement of RNA molecules that is important in the regulation of gene expression. It is formed by the self-folding of an single-stranded RNA molecule and consists of an internal loop called a loop and a stem, which is formed by the base-pairing of nucleotides on opposite parts of the molecule. These structures can affect the translation of messenger RNA into proteins, and thus can have an impact on gene expression. Stem-loop structures are also known to have an influence on the replication of the RNA molecule and can be used to diagnose disease. The study of the structure of these structures is important in understanding the regulation of transcription, translation and replication.
