Spermatogenesis

Spermatogenesis is the formation of sperm in a male's testicles. It is a vital part of the reproductive process, since sperm are required to fertilize a female's egg in order for conception to occur. Spermatogenesis is a complex process, occurring over several weeks and involving a number of hormone levels, cell maturation, and the production of sperm. In addition to its role in fertility, spermatogenesis is also important for genetic diversity, since sperm carries the genetic information of the male. Abnormalities in spermatogenesis can result in infertility and other health problems.
