Amnion
The amnion is a thin, protective membrane found within the uterus of pregnant mammals. It is filled with amniotic fluid, which helps to cushion and protect the embryo or fetus. It also helps to regulate the temperature of the developing fetus, allowing for the preservation of normal metabolic functions and growth. The amnion plays an essential role in the successful development of the fetus, and its absence can lead to severe birth defects or death. In addition to its medical significance, the amnion has implications for the fields of reproductive technologies and in vitro fertilization. The membrane is used in a range of techniques, from maintaining embryos outside of the uterus to improving egg and sperm motility. Its ability to support embryonic development outside of the uterus has revolutionized the field of reproductive medicine.
