Umbilical Veins
Umbilical veins carry oxygenated and nutrient-rich blood from the placenta to the fetus. The umbilical veins also carry waste products from the fetus back to the placenta so these can be expelled from the body. Umbilical veins are important for the development of a healthy fetus and are vital in the process of oxygenation and nutrition. They also help in the delivery of hormones and increase the flow of blood to the fetus. In pregnancies where the umbilical veins are not functioning properly, complications can arise and may lead to negative effects on the fetus' health. Umbilical veins are vital to the health of a fetus, and medical personnel need to be aware of and monitor the function of this important vessel.
