Beta-galactosidase Assay
Beta-galactosidase is an enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of ?-galactosides into monosaccharides. The enzyme has a wide range of uses and applications in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology and medical research. The enzyme is used in a variety of assays to measure enzyme activity, detect genetic mutations, and measure gene expression levels. The ?-galactosidase assay is a useful tool to study enzyme activity and its regulation, as well as to identify and confirm the presence of ?-galactosides in a sample. In addition, it has been used in drug discovery and metabolic engineering to study the effects of small molecule changes and their impact on biological pathways.
