Proteases

Proteases are a type of enzymes that are involved in the breakdown of proteins. They function by cleaving the bonds between specific amino acids in a polypeptide chain. This process enables the proteins to undergo a range of physiological processes, such as forming hormones, facilitating cell division, and acting as a communication signal. Proteases have numerous applications in biochemistry and medical science, including digestion, tissue remodeling and immunity. They are used in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and various autoimmune disorders. Additionally, they are also used in food production and biotechnology.
