Animal Stem Cells
Animal stem cells are a type of cell that have the ability to self-renew and differentiate into a range of other cell types. They are a major component of regenerative medicine, due to their capacity to repair and replace damaged tissues, organs and even whole organisms. Stem cells are also increasingly used in basic research, allowing scientists to study a variety of biological processes, such as gene expression, cell division and cell signalling. Their potential to treat many diseases, such as diabetes and Parkinson’s, is being explored in clinical trials. In addition, animal stem cell technology could revolutionize the way food is produced and how it is processed and packaged.
