Plant Stem Cells
Plant stem cells are relatively new to the field of biology, however they can have a significant impact on our understanding and use of plants. They are derived from undifferentiated cells found within the stem or root of a plant. They are important to research and have the potential to be used in agricultural and horticultural applications, as they can be used to create new crops, or enhance existing ones, yielding crops that are hardier, more disease resistant, or with improved nutrition. Plant stem cells can also aid in research, providing understanding of the effects of various stresses, such as drought, yield, and pest resistance, on crops.
