Progenitor Cells
Progenitor cells are a type of stem cell that are located within certain tissues of the body and are the precursors to the specialized cells of the adult body. Progenitor cells are unique in that they can differentiate into multiple, different cell types. This allows them to replace damaged tissues and, potentially, regenerate entire organs. Progenitor cells have a wide range of applications in medicine, such as cancer research, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. In addition, scientists are using progenitor cells to understand the development of various human diseases and disorder.
