Root Development
Root development is the process of the growth and development of a plant’s root system. It is a vital process to ensure healthy plant growth and development. Root development helps to establish a plant’s nutrient and water intake, helps with anchoring plants in the soil, and helps to prevent nutrient and water loss from the soil. As well, root development may be involved in the uptake of specific nutrients from the soil, helping plants to resist diseases, pests, and extreme climatic events. As such, root development is an important factor for ensuring the successful growth and development of plants for agricultural, horticultural and forestry applications.
