Root Nodules
Root nodules are small protrusions found on the roots of certain plants. They are formed when bacteria infect the root interface, resulting in the formation of a nodule structure containing nitrogen-fixing bacteria. The nitrogen-fixing bacteria convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form that the plants can use for growth and development. The root nodules thus play an important role in the plant's natural nitrogen cycle and also provide an important source of nitrogen for soil fertility and soil microbial health. In addition, root nodules serve as an effective way to maintain and increase nitrogen availability in soils, helping to improve crop yields and increase productivity.
