Therapeutic Cloning
Therapeutic cloning is the process of creating cloned human embryos to obtain embryonic stem cells that can be used in medical treatments. These stem cells can be manipulated to fill in for diseased or damaged cells in adults. This form of medical research has the potential to treat illnesses such as diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and even heart disease. Therapeutic cloning has been controversial due to ethical and religious issues associated with it. However, when used appropriately, therapeutic cloning could eventually provide treatments that could potentially save and improve the lives of many people.
