Developmental Toxicology

Developmental toxicology is the scientific study of how toxicants can affect the development of an organism from conception up to and through maturity. It involves the assessment of potential risks posed by chemical, physical, biological, or pathogenic agents to the developing organism or its environment in order to protect and improve public health. Developmental toxicology studies are essential for informing risk assessment, helping to safeguard the health of both current and future generations. The results of developmental toxicology research can be used to shape health-protective regulations, point out the potential risks of environmental exposures, and ultimately improve the health and safety of all populations.
