Drug Toxicity
Drug toxicity is an adverse reaction resulting from the use of a drug or medication, which can be either acute or chronic. It occurs when a drug induces an abnormal physiological state leading to cellular damage, organ dysfunction, and in some cases death. Drug toxicity is an important mechanism of drug action, as many drugs are toxic in nature and can cause harm when used in excess. It has implications in the development of new drugs, as drug toxicity must be monitored to ensure safety and efficacy. Drug toxicity can also be used as a biomarker for predicting the potential side effects of a drug.
