Endotoxins
Endotoxins are a type of toxin released from the cell walls of certain Gram-negative bacteria. Endotoxins are an important factor in many human and animal illnesses and can cause fever, shock, and even death. They can also trigger an immune response, leading to inflammation, which can cause further damage. Endotoxins can be found in the environment and can be used in research to study the body’s immune response. They are also a source of toxins used to develop vaccines and other treatments for various diseases.
