Pesticides
Pesticides are chemical or biological substances used to control pests, including weeds, insects, fungi, rodents and other organisms that are harmful to agricultural crops, wild plants and human health. Pesticides are essential tools used in modern agriculture to ensure quality and quantity of the food supply. By reducing pest populations, pesticides protect crops, reduce economic losses and ensure a reliable food supply. In addition, pesticides are also important in public health, helping to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases like malaria and Lyme disease. Along with integrated pest management techniques, pesticides can effectively reduce pest populations, thereby reducing the risk of pest-borne diseases.
