Artificial Insemination
Artificial insemination (AI) is a reproductive technology used to insert semen into a female’s uterus or cervix. It is used to bypass fertility issues and can also help preserve genetic material from a desired donor. AI can also help conserve genetic diversity in many species, enabling animals to be bred for certain qualities. AI is widely used for agricultural purposes, such as increasing herd size and improving the overall genetic quality of a given species. AI is also increasingly being used in human fertility treatments, helping many individuals have children that otherwise would not have been possible.
