Cyphellophora
Cyphellophora is a genus of fungi in the family Ramalinaceae known for its remarkable, intricate, net-like branching structure. These fungi form an important part of the lichen communities in many parts of the world and are quite common in warm to subtropical climates. Their webs of branching tubes are thought to play a role in the air-purifying abilities of lichens and can act as an important substrate for other lichen species. Furthermore, many species in the Cyphellophora genus are typically used as food and medicine in some cultures. Overall, Cyphellophora provides a unique and important contribution to the ecology of lichens and may beneficial to humans through its many uses.
