Infectious Diseases Fungal Infections
Fungal infections are caused by various species of fungi that invade living tissue and cause a wide range of illnesses. They can be found in many parts of the world, including in the air, soil, water, plants and food. Infectious fungal infections can lead to serious and even life-threatening diseases, including pneumonia, meningitis, HIV/AIDS, skin and nail infections, and systemic infections. Treatment for fungal infections usually involves medications such as antifungal drugs and may also include lifestyle changes, such as drying and disinfecting the affected area or avoiding contact with the source of infection. Prevention is the best defense against fungal infections, which can be achieved by washing hands regularly and avoiding contact with anyone who has a fungal infection.
