Lichenology
Lichenology is the study of lichens, a symbiotic organism composed of a fungi and an alga. Lichens can be found worldwide in many habitats, from deep oceans to polar regions. They are important sources of food for many animals and are also used in medicine, for dyes and for research. They are significant indicators of air pollution and climate change, providing valuable data for environmental sciences. They are also useful for bio-indicators that can be used to monitor the health of an ecosystem. Lichenology is an essential field of research that helps us to understand and interpret the environment around us.
