Mycology

Mycology is the scientific study of fungi, including mushrooms, molds, lichens and yeasts. Fungi play an important role in the ecology of the environment, as well as in various industries such as food production, pharmaceuticals, and bioremediation. mycology research also provides insight into the evolution of organisms, their interactions, and the potential applications of fungi in areas such as medicine, agriculture, and industry. In addition, mycology focuses on the classification and identification of fungi, and its techniques are used to detect and control fungal diseases in plants, animals and humans.
