Serine Proteases
Serine proteases are enzymes found in all kingdoms of life. They catalyze the cleavage of proteins through hydrolysis of specific peptide bonds. Through this activity, serine proteases are involved in a variety of biochemical pathways, such as the regulation of cell signaling and the body’s immune response. Serine proteases are also widely used in biomedical research and clinical diagnostics, as markers of disease and disease progression. They are also increasingly used in drug development and biotechnology applications, providing valuable tools for enzyme-based drug targeting and delivery.
